How to get ready for the day of your liposuction procedure
- Posted on: Dec 31 2017
Making the decision to have Liposuction is personal – and very exciting! It may hardly feel like any time at all between your initial consultation and the day before the procedure itself. In most cases, you don't have to do anything special to prep for your treatment, but there are a few important things to know before your appointment.
Bring a buddy
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, you will likely need someone to drive you home after your treatment, so enlist the help of a friend. This is simply due to the fact that you may be under anaesthetic and feeling a bit woozy. Additionally, ask your dear friend or relative to stay with you the first night after the procedure, just in case you need a little assistance moving around and getting comfortable. After all, you might need your bed pillows plumped up!
Watch what you're taking
Health Guidance said that you may need to avoid blood thinners like aspirin before your treatment. You should also stop smoking at least two months prior to your appointment. It's a good idea not to smoke anyway, but this may also give you the incentive to quit for good. And you might watch to ditch the Vitamin E supplements. This substance can affect blood clotting, which is a no-no before your Liposuction appointment.
Other than that, follow any guidance in terms of not eating or drinking after certain times, and you should be good to go! You will receive instructions on aftercare, but be prepared for a bit of initial swelling. When this passes, your body should stay in its new shape, the ASPS said, so get ready to do some shopping.
